Disclaimer & Disclosures
What this site is, how to use these notes safely, and standard boundaries around legal advice, FCC rules, hardware installations, and brand independence.
1. Educational & Logbook Purpose Only
KM7HQX is a personal notebook documenting my individual journey in amateur radio. The write-ups, band charts, antenna builds, gear notes, and operating tips published here reflect personal experience and research. They are provided for general educational and informational purposes only.
2. Electrical, RF Exposure & Hardware Safety
Amateur stations can involve mains and high-current DC wiring, transmitters and amplifiers running up to the 1,500 W PEP limit in 47 CFR 97.313, vehicle battery fusing, towers and outdoor antenna masts, and lightning grounding. Under 47 CFR 97.13(c), the licensee is responsible for making sure a station complies with the FCC RF exposure rules before it transmits.
Before installing high-gain antennas, running coaxial feed lines, or wiring 13.8V DC power supplies, always consult official manufacturer manuals, local electrical codes, building regulations, and certified professionals. If an installation, grounding setup, or electrical project is outside your comfort level or technical capability, hire a certified electrician or professional radio technician. You assume full responsibility for your equipment installations and safety practices.
3. Not Legal Advice (I Am Not an Attorney)
I am not an attorney or lawyer, and nothing published on KM7HQX constitutes legal advice.
Amateur radio operation in the United States is governed by the Federal Communications Commission under 47 CFR Part 97. While I make every effort to verify band edges, license-class privileges, power limits, and station identification rules, these notes reflect my personal interpretations and research as a hobbyist. No attorney-client relationship is created by using or reading this site.
You are solely responsible for your own radio operations, licensing, and compliance with FCC regulations and federal law. Always verify active rules directly at the official eCFR Part 97 text, or consult a licensed telecommunications attorney if you need legal counsel.
4. Independence & Brand Disclosures
This site is independently operated under call sign KM7HQX. It is not an official publication of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the ARRL, any volunteer examiner coordinator, or any radio manufacturer. All product names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Unless explicitly noted in an individual post, all gear notes, teardowns, and comparison write-ups reflect my personal hands-on experience and opinion.
5. No Sponsorships or Affiliate Links
KM7HQX does not carry advertising, paid sponsorships, or affiliate referral links. Gear mentioned here was bought with my own money unless a post says otherwise.
If that ever changes, the affected links and posts will be labeled where they appear and this section will be updated.
