Privacy Policy

How this notebook handles information, contact form submissions, privacy-first analytics, edge security, and links to third-party sites.

Notebook Scope

1. Personal Notebook Scope & Purpose

KM7HQX (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent, personal notebook documenting amateur radio operation, licensing, FCC Part 97 rules, band plans, antenna builds, and gear testing.

This site is published for personal educational and hobbyist reference. We do not provide commercial client IT services, customer support ticketing, or managed hardware infrastructure, and this policy applies to your visits and communications with km7hqx.com.

Information Collected

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to deliver site content, prevent abuse, and communicate with readers:

Information you provide directly: When you submit a message through our contact form or send an email to info@km7hqx.com, you may provide your name, email address, radio call sign (optional), topic, and message text. Please do not submit sensitive personal, financial, or confidential information through website forms.

Information collected automatically: When you browse this site, our hosting infrastructure and analytics tools may automatically record standard technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, timestamps, and diagnostic security logs.

Usage

3. How We Use Information

Information collected through KM7HQX is used exclusively for legitimate notebook operations:

  • To read and respond to questions, feedback, corrections, or notes sent through our contact form.
  • To monitor, maintain, and improve site reliability, load performance, and reader usability.
  • To detect, prevent, and mitigate automated spam, bot abuse, security threats, or malicious traffic.
  • To comply with applicable legal, regulatory, or technical obligations.

We do not sell personal data, do not rent email lists, and do not use your contact information for unsolicited commercial marketing blasts or SMS promotions.

Analytics & Security

4. Cookies, Analytics & Cloudflare Turnstile

We prioritize lightweight, privacy-respecting tools to operate the notebook:

Cloudflare Turnstile: Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to verify human submissions without invasive visual puzzles. Turnstile evaluates browser signals and technical headers to confirm that a submission is not automated spam.

Cloudflare Web Analytics & Edge Services: KM7HQX runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare collects privacy-first, aggregate metrics (such as page views and bandwidth) without using client-side cookies or cross-site tracking.

Google Analytics: We may use Google Analytics via Cloudflare Zaraz to understand aggregate traffic trends, popular reference guides, and on-site search queries.

You can adjust cookie and tracking preferences through your browser settings. Every reference guide, frequency table, and blog post on this notebook remains completely accessible if cookies are disabled.

Third Parties

5. Third-Party Links

This site includes links to external third-party services and platforms:

No affiliate or payment links: As noted on the Disclaimer & Disclosures page, this site does not use affiliate referral links and does not take payments, so no purchase or payment information passes through it.

External Reference Resources: Links pointing to official FCC databases (eCFR, ULS), repeater directories, the ARRL, or manufacturer manuals navigate to third-party domains whose privacy practices we do not control.

Information Sharing

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information. Information is disclosed only under the following limited circumstances:

  • Infrastructure providers: Cloudflare provides our edge compute (Workers), DNS routing, Turnstile bot verification, and Email Routing services.
  • Legal compliance: If required to respond to valid subpoenas, court orders, or lawful requests by public authorities, or to protect the safety, security, and rights of KM7HQX and the public.
Retention & Security

7. Data Retention & Security Safeguards

Contact submissions and email correspondence are retained only as long as reasonably needed to address your questions, maintain records of corrections, or defend against abuse. Edge server logs are kept on rolling retention schedules and regularly purged.

All site traffic is transmitted securely over HTTPS (TLS encryption). While we implement reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, no method of transmission over the internet is completely infallible, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Your Rights

8. Your Choices & Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you previously submitted through our contact form.

To make a privacy inquiry or request deletion of a past contact submission, email us at info@km7hqx.com. We will respond promptly within reasonable timeframes.

Children

9. Children’s Privacy

KM7HQX is intended for general audiences interested in radio communications and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information through our contact form, please notify us at info@km7hqx.com so we can take immediate steps to remove it.
